Heavenly Temple Of An Incarnation Of Shiva |
Shri Khandoba Maharaj Temple of Nashik is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located at 14km from center of Nashik and only 5km from Nashik railway station. The Khandoba Maharaj Temple is built on a hill top of the scenic and picturesque Deolali camp. Khandoba Maharaj is believed to the incarnation of Lord Shiva and the temple some 500years old. Lord Shiva took the form of Khandoba Maharaj to kill two demon brothers Malla and Mani Daitya. He then took rest on this hill top and hence it is also called as the “Vishramgadh”.
As said earlier the Khandoba Maharaj Temple is in the Deolali cantonment area, hence it is so clean, calm and surrounded by lush greenery. There are sign boards pointing in different directions on the hill top indicating the location of some important spots like the Eklahra Power Plant, Sinnar Windmills, Barnes School etc. A trip to the Khandoba Maharaj Temple gives one a lot of peace of mind and inner happiness.
